E30 M3 DTM Center Lock wheels just refurbished – finally

6:17 pm in My E30, Post-V12, wheels by Tom Goh

Some of you may remember from this post, where i acquired a set of 5 E30 DTM single lug / mono lug / center lock wheels last year in April. Today, i finally collected them from the shop. They have been sandblasted and refurbished back to their glory days. I decided to have them finished in racing white.

This is how these babies would look when mounted! I was intending to mount them on my E34 just for fun if I could find the locsking hubs for the wheels. Which can be purchased from sites like these – Racecarsdirect.com M3 E30 Center Lock HUBS BBS. But looking at them now, it’ll be a great addition to my still, WIP E30. Read the rest of this entry →

Whiteline Anti Roll Bars for the E34 – A Great upgrade!

3:45 pm in My E34, Post-V12, Suspension by Tom Goh

Found a set of an almost-new Whiteline front 27mm anti roll bar on the bmw-sg forums and I had to have it. Whiteline don’t make them anymore for the E34 since 2008. I also missed my purchase during my trip to Sydney some years ago. I have been looking for a proper adjustable ARB for a long time now after having experienced the ride in a friends’ car.  This piece i found was so new, it was merely test-installed, it was then left in storage for a couple of years.

E34: Some pictures of the recent changes :)

With less than satisfactory updates for the past few weeks, here are some better pictures. The recent nose and paint job did wonders in cleaning up the face as well as the body. The AC Schnitzer replica bodykit was never gloss painted until now. Ever since i put it on the last 7,8 years, it stayed flat black to disguise the waves in the finish.  Something i can never tolerate. Read the rest of this entry →

E34: Windscreen replacement

8:29 pm in Exterior, My E34, Post-V12 by Tom Goh

windscreen3

Back from the painted wide grille mod and bumper repair and paint touch ups, the car was sent to have its long-overdue windscreen replaced. If you drive an old car with an old windscreen, you’d know how pathetic pitted, scratched up, dirty old windscreens can be. I always had the urge to replace but there were always another priority. Now that i’ve fulfilled  most of the checklist, it’s time. Read the rest of this entry →

E34: Wide Grille mod still unpainted.

Here are more recent updates on the E34. Yes, it’s still unpainted. I took the effort to lay on a coat of flat black on the bonnet. Not the best effort, but good enough for a temporary look :) Loving the wide grille now since it adds to the wide and low front.

Can’t wait to get it all black and glossy again :)

E34: Joined the Dark Side. Wide Grille conversion

As you can clearly see, the E34 is going through an ugly phase. For the better. Which is a pretty shocking fact, since the 10 years i have had the car, it had always been the narrow grill. So about time a new look. Plus the wide grille ages the car pretty well, celebrating its 10th years of service. Plus the recent heart transplant and interior renovation deserves a more mature body.

What’s to be done: The AC Schnitzer badge will go, and the car will be sent for paint soon. Also, the bumpers needs to go. For many years the bumper had been damaged and repaired that it just isn’t practical repairing anymore. A single nudge will send cracks of previously damaged area. As for design, it’s either the same Schnitzer replicas or a custom job. Just not fixed on ideas yet.

Cruise shots of the E34 and the MINI

Thanks to Abdullah Al-Ahdal | Ahdalphoto.com for taking the time to shoot the 2 cars. Typical monsoon season provided a different perspective and of course, spoilt the shooting session. So there are only 2 shots for now.  Also, I’d like to debut the flat black headlight surrounds by Angeline on the MINI, Done by Herself.

Though the rain screwed the shoot, it still managed to produce the above. At least I have a shot of the E34 in the wet :) . Another session will be arranged for a full feature. This will probably be the last few shots of the E34 in the current state. Aesthetic changes awaits.
