E34: Windscreen replacement

windscreen3

Back from the painted wide grille mod and bumper repair and paint touch ups, the car was sent to have its long-overdue windscreen replaced. If you drive an old car with an old windscreen, you’d know how pathetic pitted, scratched up, dirty old windscreens can be. I always had the urge to replace but there were always another priority. Now that i’ve fulfilled  most of the checklist, it’s time. Continue reading

MINI R53 RS – Son of 997 GT3 RS

mini-chopped

Just a wild photochop work. The MINI is almost half way there with the Signal Green paintjob. It now needs more GT3 RS-esque features.  Though Duell AG already have ready-made versions that resembles the look, unfortunately it’s for the R56 versions. The earlier R53 versions don’t posses the same look.

It’s still a photoshop work. So no promises. But it is the look that i desire most for the MINI.

E34: Joined the Dark Side. Wide Grille conversion

img_4378

As you can clearly see, the E34 is going through an ugly phase. For the better. Which is a pretty shocking fact, since the 10 years i have had the car, it had always been the narrow grill. So about time a new look. Plus the wide grille ages the car pretty well, celebrating its 10th years of service. Plus the recent heart transplant and interior renovation deserves a more mature body.

What’s to be done: The AC Schnitzer badge will go, and the car will be sent for paint soon. Also, the bumpers needs to go. For many years the bumper had been damaged and repaired that it just isn’t practical repairing anymore. A single nudge will send cracks of previously damaged area. As for design, it’s either the same Schnitzer replicas or a custom job. Just not fixed on ideas yet.

Some of the Best Custom Leather Interiors

2007-ruf-rgt-based-on-porsche-997-interior-1280x960

The above came from a 997 RUF RGT. – During the course of searching for good examples of custom leather interiors for my E34,  I’ve collected some pictures of the most exotic samples money can buy.

It is pretty tough deciding what to inspire from, but 2 things remain. Reds and Diamonds. I hope you like the collection of nice custom interiors i’ve compiled here.

Please use these examples should you decide to venture into the world of custom interiors :)

DuelL AG’s Gauge Faces for the R56 MINI

a5b3a5d4a1bc20a1c120duell48

DuelL AG has recently collaborated with MINIMAX to create their very own gauge faces.  I think they are probably the best 2.0 looking dials available. Though MINIMAX’s current line of “old school american radio” faces aren’t too bad either. But it’s a shame these DuelL AG items doesn’t support the R53. Looks like more and more cooler parts are now made for the R56 and up.

AC Schnitzer front + Lower lip spoiler =

ac-extension-1

Remember my favourite E34 from Japan? It’s got Schnitzer everything and a particular front splitter-thing attached to the S5 bumper. I didn’t know the origins of it so i assumed it was a generic one. A friend of mine told me it was in fact from AC Schnitzer and he’s recently made replicas of them. The picture above shows the prototype fitted. If you ever had mixed feelings of the existing S5 bumper not making enough an impact, this lip spoiler should provide that needed ground effect.

If you are considering going for that razor-sharp look, then the good thing is it wouldn’t create much of a height clearance issue IF you are not already running that barely-skimming-the-ramp low. The existing short overhang of the S5 bumper makes it the all-time ramp friendly yet stance provoking choice especially if you’re going really low.

Washing the R53 “RS”

mini-rs

Picked up a mobile 12v cigarette lighter powered car wash pump from Singapore during Super Import Nights.  With it’s internal water storage capability of 1.5 litres,  isn’t much, but you can wash your car even in the dessert powered only by your car. Anyway, there isn’t a pic of the pump in here. I’ll post more about it soon. here’s the pic of the Mini being jet washed, at home.

19″ Type II Fitted. Some Quick shots.

rear-type-ii

The Type IIs that i recently acquired came with Falken rubbers. So why not use them first? They’re in 245/35/19 and 275/30/19.  I managed to fit the fronts, with the 15mm spacers on. but had to remove the rear 20mm spacers. They will be shaved and reinstalled, once i get the rear fenders rib shaved.  I also have some new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric,  just waiting to go on, in 265/30/19 and 235/35/19. Please enjoy the only 2 pictures :) Continue reading
