E34: New Colour For 2012 – Lamborghini Telesto Grey

Happy 2012 to Everyone!. There’s a drastic change to the E34 This year. The Black is gone. A new shade of grey is on. Specifically the Lamborghini Telesto Grey as seen on the Gallardos and Murcies.

It’s quite a change for me as the E34 has been a black car for the last decade. Mixed feelings definitely, its a love/hate colour in real life. If you can notice the grille trim has been deleted for that bigger nostril look.

Other changes include satin black AC Schnitzer Type IIs :) Which has just been sold :(

Here’s how the Red interior contrast with the new grey.

An Interior so nice you have to see twice

Also remade the X-pipe to a more flowy design. new brackets also secures the system better. No more mid range vibrations and much better sound :) Monotoned the picture as the finish isn’t exactly new and shiny

The new tailpipes replacing the Schnitzers

And finally the Shot of the Engine. :)

  1. Nice !!!! wait… u sold the acs rims ? so what rims install now ?
and as usual .. bigger pic size please haha !!

  2. Thanks Eric. Before I get started, how much in total did it cost you to transform your car? Also, which workshop did you go to? Recommendations?

  3. Tom I have a e34 (my baby) I’m looking to redo her and wanted to know if you would be willing to give me input when needed. I’ve been admiring your e34 from half way around the world (S. Florida) for sometime now innnncredible car! I know the kit is a AC schnitzer replica as are/WERE the 20s you had on her AC schnitzer Type 2 if I’m not mistaken. By they way if whoever you sold them to changes their mind I would by them off of you in a heartbeat! I wanted to know where I could possible find the kit and wheels.

  4. Hi Tom,

Have been following your blog with great interest.
I have been meaning to get some custom Hotbits coilovers made up for my E34 as my current set of coilovers do not go low enough. How does your new RCS coilovers compare to them? How much did the RCS coilovers set you back?

PS: Spotted the E34 in Maluri last week or the week before. Looks great!

  5. Timmy: well i just got a set of DPE S-10 used from an E60. Apparently specified with the deepest dish it could fit. They measure 20X9.5 and 20X10.5. 245/30/20 and 245/35/20 stretched. No spacers and i’m liking the offset. maybe when i get propor tyres i might put on spacers :)

Rude: thanks!, The body kit are the originals. i was using the reps for a while until 2009 i think. The AC Schnitzer Type IIs are 19s not 20s. I wonder how the 20s would look. probably awesome though. As for the new owner of the Schnitzer wheels, i don’t think he’d be parting with them anytime soon though. i heard he’s enjoying it :) sorry rude.

the AC Schnitzer S5 replica bodykit is widely available here in Malaysia. I also heard they upped the quality :)

    woo:
If you want low, the least supportive company is Hot Bits followed by Titan and then RCS. No suspension makers here in KL understands the novelty of height. You can of course still go for any of the first two and then lower the spring perches to get the height but you will curse the ride quality. They will not accommodate their dampers for really low ride heights.
I’m fairly lenient and even I can’t take it. Stay away.

RCS well, they’ve made my set to the height i wanted and i love it. It handles well too :) The RCS costs about RM5500, doesn’t have a fancy product finish, anodized this and that, height adjustability is limited to about 1 inch i think. and they are not damping adjustable. So it’s a set it and forget it kinda thing. Not an easy price to pay but it’s my 4th system after a great deal of nightmare and money and i’m finally satisfied. You might need to get it serviced like once a year as i’ve found, but probably due to the low ride height.

Hotbits sells for about RM3800 basic. You get height adjustability, and front damping adjustment. I upgraded it to a price double the basic with a different set of springs, rear adjustability + knobs, spherical bearing top mounts front and rear, changed the strokes and damping and was still totally unsatisfied.

    good luck

Maluri? were you driving the black E34 at night with what i assume is a 1JZ engine?

  6. Thanks for the info Tom. Will definitely come in useful.

I currently have BC Racing Coilovers with my spring perches cut off and a new set of rings welded lower down. Gets the height I want but the ride quality is unbearable as my damping is mismatched.
Looks like I will be in contact with RCS shortly.

PS: I was in a different car the other night but I do drive a Black E34 albeit with a stroked 3L M20 on Alpinas. You may have seen it at Ah Wai’s workshop.

  7. yeah, even if you have threads left to go lower or like how you went even further, going lower than the given damping stroke means you will no more damping. There’s a set shock travel within an absorber.

anyway, i noticed Ramsing / Siva with his turbo M50 E34 has a new set of KIDO units. i wonder how they fare, and how low can they go, maybe you can give that one a shot, heard it’s not too costly, RM3K or so if i’m not wrong.

    good luck
