With my recent overhaul on the Cylinder heads due to a head gasket failure, the intake manifolds, head covers were sent for powdercoating and had actually been re-assembled and had the car running. What I didn’t know was that the con rod bearings were also shot due to coolant being mixed with the lube during the initial head gasket failure.

The engine then had to be pulled out again and disassembled to replaced the bearings. I took the opportunity to send the timing case, and distributor covers for powder coating to match the rest of the engine.

As you can see from the photoshopped picture above, the extra reds on the front now compliments the majestic V12

Here are the parts sandblasted and excess casting marks ground off

Powdercoated in the same Orangey-red. the only Red available

nice touch , Tom !!! take a good pic after install in the 550i
Bleah…. only can dream to have V12
dayuuummm…love it man….now it looks like DodgeViper powerplant……can’t wait for an update
thanks guys! will do a good shoot when all’s done!
You take things to the next level bro… simply awesome!
Minor comment if u don’t mind… imho, i think it would be visually more appealing if the side of the headcovers (haha… dunno what its called) were painted matte black as it contrast better with the strips and “BMW” letters and the 12 “pipes” in red. But that’s just me.
hi andrew
thanks
i in fact did that myself with some high-temp made-in-usa paint cans on the previous V12 engine but didn’t like the result: http://www.euroasians.net/2007/11/10/painted-m70-intake-manifolds/
mostly because there are no seams in between the intake runners and plenum to do a 2 tone
but thanks for noticing anyways andrew
waiting patiently for the final product
thanks tzeyang
