Found a set of an almost-new Whiteline front 27mm anti roll bar on the bmw-sg forums and I had to have it. Whiteline don’t make them anymore for the E34 since 2008. I also missed my purchase during my trip to Sydney some years ago. I have been looking for a proper adjustable ARB for a long time now after having experienced the ride in a friends’ car. This piece i found was so new, it was merely test-installed, it was then left in storage for a couple of years.

Here’s a comparison between: (from top)
- Whiteline 27mm
- E34 540i
- Alpina E34 anti roll bar

Most of the stock bars for the BMW E34 are about 22MM. I removed my 750il bar and was surprised they were marginally bigger than the 540i’s bar at 24mm. (it’s for sale too -with powerflex PU bushes -i’ll take a pic soon)
Even the 750iL bar itself was fantastic at the bends. but nothing compares to this..

I had a friend install the bar for me and had it set to max-hard

A quick impression of the Whiteline upgrade? The front seems even more planted now with both front struts working better together. Even cruising in a straight line made significant difference on less than perfect road surfaces. It seems to compliment the heavier V12 very well.
In short, it’s so much better in all-aspects. The front feels lighter now and it turns so much more precisely like what a performance car feels like.
Nice Item you found for the V12, Tom !!!
Hi sugi,
yeah, one of my best mods so far
Tom, u sale the 540i anti roll bar ? for how much ? hmm don’t know when i back to KL again….
Hi Sugi
The Front was from the 750iL which is 24mm i think.
much thicker than the 540i item
when are you coming??
Hmm still no idea when coming back to KL.
from 750 ? is it fit to E34 ? as from the size of body is different.
Tom, did you already get the souvenir ?
hi Sugi
yup the Whiteline bar replaced the 750iL bar on my E34
The Cap is still with Nik, will see him during one of the meets soon
thanks for the trouble sugi!
so…when’s the BBK going in? hehehe
so…when’s the BBK going in? hehehe since you’re gonna be cornering faster now, need to brake harder as well…
hi snchin
BBK is part of the wishlist, but it’ll be some time i think.
probably not before the manual conversion. also really depends if I find a good deal for either
i see…a manual would be sweet. can aid in handling the twisty bits. LSD?
yeah, can aid in most things really, from braking to extracting more power, more fun etc. LSD is there but needs to be rebuilt
Very nice and smart upgrade, congratulations!
A question… if I may – you wrote you had removed your 750i old ARB (I guess E32?!?) – does it mean that you can with no issues mount an E32 ARB into E34? If yes, the 850 CSi (E31) has 27 mm front bar (same diameter as Whiteline) and I think E31 and E32 ARBs are interchangeable… which would also mean that the 850CSi E31′s front bar would fit into E34 with more less no issues… hopefully.
Look forward to read your thoughts

Hi yavor
yeah, the 750il bar was in place before I had the whitline. and yes on an E34 chassis.
Though you need to be careful. i have recently sold the 750il bar to a friend of mine which he had trouble fitting it on due to clearance issue with the transmission or crossmember or something on an M50 engine. some parts were touching. so i assume a V8 or above will be okay, since i was running it on my V12 with no issues.
wow, the 850csi bar is something i have never seen before, i’m sure it’ll be really good. i love my Whiteline bar at the moment
Hi Tom,
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
Look at this PDF: http://www.mwrench.com/Whitepapers/E31antiswaybar.pdf
The first sway-bar of the 4 front listed is 31 35 1 131 620 – this very same part number is also used in E32 750i, 750iL both – US and Europe version. It clearly means that at least the earlier E31 sway-bars directly fit into the space of E32. Looking at the pictures it seems, to me at least, that the difference between …620 and the 27 mm …364 is not that big and fitting a 27 mm into E32 and thereafter into E34 could be trouble-less… I am not saying it will fir for sure.. I am hoping so indeed because on my E34 (’95 Touring, M50 Rotrex supercharged to 1 bar and more boost to come on Stage 2) I have already installed the 20 mm rear sway bar from M5 Nuerburgring and now I desperately search for thicker front sway-bar which by far only Racing dynamics offer, however I need a front bar, as the RD kit has 19 mm rear bar (thinner than mine) and they do not sell the 2 bars separately but as a kit only… which is understandable of course.
This is how I went into consideration of the 850CSi 27 mm front bar…
I have installed an Eibach Pro kit with Bilstein B8 Sprint, so the front 27 mm sway-bar is more less the last upgrade left to finish my suspension work.
That is why any preliminary information of possible interference between the sway-bar and the control arms or the engine sump is vital for me before go purchasing the CSi bar.
So far many thanks for your feedback and any further comments are appreciated!

hi yavor
the specs of your car seems surprisingly familliar.
was your car featured on PBMW couple of months back?
A White touring with a rotrex supercharged M50, ground control suspension, throwing star wheels in black with polished rim?
anyway, it is a real shame that Whiteline discontinued their production for the fronts, or your search would have already end. i am looking to buy the rears next.
my discovery of the E32 750il bar fitment to the E34 was by chance. i never knew the guys at the shop fitted them along with the servotronic steering and everything else when the V12 was being swapped. till i replaced it with the whiteline item.
i dont know how helpful i can be at this point since i don’t have much experience with the ARBs they produced although its a surprised that the part number for the CSI is the same as the 750il’s
What i can confirm is the unique shape that it has, which explains why it will only fit the V-engines.
i will find out if the guy i sold the ARB will wanna part with it if you’d like to buy it.
thanks yavor
Hi Tom,
Replying very late but I couldn’t earlier… sorry!
My car has never been exhibit anywhere so it must have been another car.
The 850 CSi’s 27mm sway bar is one of a kind and is only fitted to CSi.
All non-CSi E31 have 24mm bar and considering how similar the front suspension is I am not very surprised to see some part exchange between the models.
Regarding the ARB you sold – it is 24mm and I am not interested in it since I already have the same thickness (all E34 Tourings have 24mm front bar as from the factory)… what I am after is only the 850 CSi bar and nothing else and day by day, along with the new info I gather, I am getting closer to detect whether it can fit into E34 or not… if I conclude it can – I will order it straight away at the local BMW vendor.
Thanks a lot for the tech-support you provide!
Yavor
hey, your 5 series is wicked!
