E34: Paintshop Prepping

There were plans to revamp the current body especially the bumpers and all but the rush for the coming festivities (next week) puts it on hold. The E34 will now, only receive a part paintjob and repairs to the existing bodykit. Not a majorĀ  job but good enough to put the car back on track considering the cracked, broken and chipped front end.

The front bumper needed the most work. Though i’m not sure how well the lower section has been prepped. The replica Schnitzer bumpers are known to produce a wavvy finish due to poor reproduction and fitment problems.

  1. Tom, why the paint shop didn’t take off the front grill ? look like at the last picture the wide grill get paint a little bit with base coat .

  2. bohtak: He’s better at body and metal works. He does a lot of metal fabrication. fenders, arches, widebody, metal bumpers, you name it.

hi sugi, the whole front needed paint. I think they also sanded the grille before paint. i took the car to day, didn’t get the chance to inspect properly i arrived home raining.

they also painted the bumpers and side skirts in gloss. i thought i noticed the wavy-ness in the finish.. so i am not really satisfied..

  3. Tom, post new picture after paint job, want to know how it look in glossy finish. So far , I stick with your old way, flat black. That’s the easy way to repair ;p can do repair easily from scratch at lower bumper or scratch by motorcycle ;p
