Haven’t been posting much and even less on the MINI. Here’s a recent picture of the engine. Just gotta love the green eyes

yeah that too! lol..
I am surprised how you tuned your R53. Probably one of the best ones I’ve seen.
Just two quick questions…
1. For the plastic fender trim parts, did you paint them in matt black to match the painting of the JCW aero kit trim areas?
2. Are those “eye” decals still available? If so, where can I get them?
Thanks a lot!
hi mcsds
thanks for the compliments
most of the mods were actually done by the ex-owner, bohtak, the guy who replied before you
but i’ll answer that,
1. yes ,the trims were painted in rough textured flat black. for that tough look.
2. They were done by him, as in designed and printed. would you like me to ask him if he’d accept orders?
or i guess you can get different ones from online stores.
Thank you for a kind and detailed reply.
1. Thought so… Didn’t look like the original cheap plastic fenders:) Would it be possible for you to let me know in detail what to do to get that same result? Would I have to grind off the plastic surface? By the way, I have a R53 Darksilver. I’ve enjoyed the normal status of the R53 and now I’m planning on my mods
2. Wow… Incredible. Of course, if it doesn’t bother you can you please do so?
Thanks a lot for your help!
hi MCSDS,
1. totally, yea the factory trims are too smooth to carry the tough look. I don’t have the knowledge specifically to tell you how it’s done though, but the paint boys should know this at the back of their hands. it’s basically a thicker mixture with some sort of an epoxy or hardening component, which is that sprayed (or sputtered) across the surface intended.
you know i think you can even get the spray can version from good hardware shops.
do it, it’s very robust. but try to avoid getting any wax or detailing chemicals on the rough surface, because it will be a bitch to remove.
2. sure, i will send him a message no probs
2.
Thanks for your reply,
1. Oh sorry for asking such a silly question. So all I have to do is take the trims off and go to the paint shop and paint it with flat black? I was wondering if I will have to grind of the plastic surface…
