MINI: Quick wheel repair
1:11 am in My R53 Mini by Tom Goh
Just a couple of weeks ago, a quick fix was done on one of the wheels. Since these Ultraleggeras were black, it’s going to be easy. The wheel weren’t even removed for the job. All that was needed was some sandpaper, black and clear spray cans, some paper tape and some quick drying cement epoxy, the affected wheel area was sanded down, pits and valleys filled with epoxy and sanded smooth.
The wheel was then masked off. back issues of a popular car classifieds came in handy for the rest of the body. Then coats of black went on followed by coats of clear. Though not the entire wheel. Here are some pictures.
Some crumpled pages was shoved in between the spokes to avoid screwing up the precious yellow Brembo and disc and whatever’s behind the wheel, PSS9 included. the end result was acceptable and the curbs were virtually in-existent. So the 4hr job was worth it.

hehehe good job , Tom. Are those quick repair result can have the same black as the original rims color ?
hi sugi I think if more time and effort was spent, it could look as good if not better. but black wheels are the easiest to repair i think
