MINI: Quick wheel repair

cooper s wheel repair

Just a couple of weeks ago, a quick fix was done on one of the wheels. Since these Ultraleggeras were black, it’s going to be easy. The wheel weren’t even removed for the job. All that was needed was some sandpaper, black and clear spray cans, some paper tape and some quick drying cement epoxy, the affected wheel area was sanded down, pits and valleys filled with epoxy and sanded smooth.

DuelL AG’s Gauge Faces for the R56 MINI

a5b3a5d4a1bc20a1c120duell48

DuelL AG has recently collaborated with MINIMAX to create their very own gauge faces.  I think they are probably the best 2.0 looking dials available. Though MINIMAX’s current line of “old school american radio” faces aren’t too bad either. But it’s a shame these DuelL AG items doesn’t support the R53. Looks like more and more cooler parts are now made for the R56 and up.

Impromtu Mini Photoshoot at Sepang

Here are some pictures from Sepang. it was a double photoshoot. I have to say, the palm sized Canon 500D was fantastic at its default “P” mode. Even shooting against the sunset, the 500D captured the scenes extremely well.

GT3 RS + R53 RS

Had a opportunity to park the Mini this close to a real GT3 Rs. Too bad about the Picture, the E71 packs the worst phone camera ever.

From the left, an S3, MCS, Cayman S. As Malaysians await for the JPM Berjaya Hillclimb trials, 3 psyched-up Euros pound the Bukit Tinggi hills for a quick shakedown. Not realising the colour coordination of a traffic light post, there were also a certain specialness within the cars being a turbo 4WD, supercharged Front wheel drive and mid engined rear wheel drive.

E34 and R53 at Sepang

img_1930

Brought both to the recent HPC track day. The south, half track wasn’t particularly friendly to the 5, which is, big, long, soft and heavy, it could barely stretch its legs. The Mini on the other hand was pretty made for it, though much practice is needed to understand its unique ability.

AC Schnitzer front + Lower lip spoiler =

ac-extension-1

Remember my favourite E34 from Japan? It’s got Schnitzer everything and a particular front splitter-thing attached to the S5 bumper. I didn’t know the origins of it so i assumed it was a generic one. A friend of mine told me it was in fact from AC Schnitzer and he’s recently made replicas of them. The picture above shows the prototype fitted. If you ever had mixed feelings of the existing S5 bumper not making enough an impact, this lip spoiler should provide that needed ground effect.

If you are considering going for that razor-sharp look, then the good thing is it wouldn’t create much of a height clearance issue IF you are not already running that barely-skimming-the-ramp low. The existing short overhang of the S5 bumper makes it the all-time ramp friendly yet stance provoking choice especially if you’re going really low.
