Here are some new pics of the new 750iL V12 complete swap

Finally. Here are some pictures of the 550i’s latest progress. Sorry i did have the car washed 2 days ago but today’s rain ruined everything. Since i’m bringing it to the workshop later, I’ll leave it for now. The guys at the shop will get the finer details sorted out. What’s lacking currently:

  1. Fuel Gauge
  2. Speedo
  3. O2 sensors aren’t plugged in
  4. Minor wiring Issues

Yup, i have been driving it that way for the last week. I have also had the exhaust connected to just the center section for now(again). It’s pretty loud, but just not anywhere near refined.  With just the center section now, it has that subtle burbling like a turbo would but dominated by the creamy V12′s nice growling howl. I’m planning for a more final exhaust system soon.

Parts of the engine are pretty much as-in from the donor, oxidized, roasted.  I’ll get it all detailed and painted soon.I may even put in the metal mesh air filter pods.

As i’ve mentioned, the old V12 was replaced with a more complete 750i swap. So, again, it’s essentially a 750iAl with an E34 shell(maybe). A Far cry from the then, manual  transmission and throttles. It’s just so much more tamer now. So much so, that it’s completely soften the intentions of a wild V12 project. Though i’m kept happy with other attributes that make the 750i  such a fine cruiser. But i’m determined to hack it as far as i can.

The magnificent V12 is a sight to behold. Did i mention i had the whole bay degreased in Simple Green? My all-time favourite multi-purpose cleaner. Know where the oil is filled? The central oil filler made my buy that little more worth it. Most 750is in existence now have got their oil filler near the firewall, which doesn’t look nearly as good as the central ones on the 850is. Try browing pics of my late V12. I have also got used to the central expansion tank that were only on the Bigger fives and sevens. looks good in there too.

  1. big WOW
so u put another V12 engine to your E34.
Nice work, and the car look awesome. still wondering that u put bigger size picture in the web. would like to use it as wallpaper.
keep up the awesome job !!

  2. hi Sugi

    thanks for the comment

i’ve already posted some thumbnails in my new post

    Thanks!
    Tom

  3. K&Ns are really nice, it’s just that they should be a little more adventurous by introducing a new, younger, range since they’ve been looking the same since my dad had them

  4. wow!..nice car u have…mind if i asked, how much do u spend for this whole transformation?the engine, the exhaust, the bodykit?

  5. mike: not much really. the bodykit’s a replica, so are the used type II wheels. the exhaust was removed from my dad’s ex E34 520i when he sold it some years ago. also, it’s good to know that my car was done across some years, so you don’t really feel it

as for figures, the bodykit was a about $400, the wheels, $300 perhaps

  6. ya..not really feel it and also the satisfaction would be very2 BLASTING rite?=0

about da exhaust, is it quad?..how about ur interior?did u do any modification inside?ice exmple..

    thank u for sharing ya!

  7. no, it currently running the usual E34 setup. though the exhaust doesn’t go all the way to the rear muffler. instead, it comes out through the center muffler.

nothing done to the interior though.
except for a pioneer headunit :)

  8. i luv the fact that you do ur car very wisely..
but about da replica bodykit n rims, does it give u any prob?i mean that myb it is not as tough as the ori?

  9. Hi Brother where u buy yr bodykit, i wan to buy where can get it n how much (RM)? Thanks.

  10. hi mike:

    thanks
the replica bodykit is pretty strong but probably not as durable as the original. i’ve once split the front lower section of the kit while reversing out of a grassy compound

the replica rims, i’ve had it for about 2 years. i’ve dented them over massive holes before, but they’re just minor dents that can be fixed.

please try theva at SS21 PJ if i’m not wrong.

  11. Heya Tom,
just wanted to say Good Job on your conversion ! Having done some conversions on some of my previous rides, though none near the magnitude of what you’ve done :) Can imagine the effort that you’ve put in; Kudos to you ! Do you happen to have any in-car/ out car vids after conversion complete?

    Btw, you’re in JB?

  12. hi Pro

thanks, do show me some of your work, too bad there isn’t many integrated features on my site. I’ll try to get that fixed. after all, i intended the site to allow contributions from other similarly crazed owners

as for videos, I don’t really have anything good to post though.

I am based in KL now. Though I do return to JB from time to time.

    where are you based?

    thanks
    Tom

  14. hi i have a 1990 750il with the v12. I was wondering how you removed the eml and electronic throttle bodies and are using manual tb’s any info would be helpful thanks

  15. angelsbmw: i ewill need some time for this. i haven’t been visiting the shops for a while. not in the modding season for me yet.. but i will eventually email you the needed details. thanks!

adam: for the current setup, nothing was removed. everything from the 750il was used as is.

as for the previous setup, only both the ecus was retained. the throttle and transmission control units was removed. the technician managed to feed throttle position values to the ecu via a tps mounted on the manual throttle linkage.

  16. have 1993 750il v12 but no exhaust from dual headers each side too tail…including flanges at header… but what a car !!! can you guide me as to organising a system for less than 2 gazillion dollars…thanks pete
