4:00 am in E34, My E34, Post-V12 by Tom Goh
Here’s a pic of my engine bay with the engine neatly in the car. I took this pic just a few days before the wiring work was complete. It’s probably useless posting these pics up but i guess since i have them i might as well put them up.
Do enjoy

Just wanted to say the engine looks nice… But I have some questions, I have a 540 touring, and working on putting in a V12 in it. Wondering what problems will I face, and what can I keep with the car etc. transmission, brakes, air condition, and more. Thanks in advance… Want to go fast in Germany…
hi OZ
hmm, that’ll be the E34 540i touring?
I’m sure there’s a way to minimise the stuff you need to go V12 since you’ve already got a great 540i base to begin with.
You should be able to keep all your brakes, a/c, steering system, instrumental gauges etc and most probably, even your transmission assuming if you buy only the basics which are the M70 V12 complete with engine harness and the 2 motronic ECUs controlling either side of the V12 banks. You would also need the drive-by-wire control unit which sits beside the ecus.
It really depends on how you buy your V12 donor.
do you by any chance have a cheap V8 manual transmission? I am eager to buy one for mine
thanks!
