There were plans to revamp the current body especially the bumpers and all but the rush for the coming festivities (next week) puts it on hold. The E34 will now, only receive a part paintjob and repairs to the existing bodykit. Not a major job but good enough to put the car back on track considering the cracked, broken and chipped front end.
The front bumper needed the most work. Though i’m not sure how well the lower section has been prepped. The replica Schnitzer bumpers are known to produce a wavvy finish due to poor reproduction and fitment problems. Continue reading ‘E34: Paintshop Prepping’
Here are more recent updates on the E34. Yes, it’s still unpainted. I took the effort to lay on a coat of flat black on the bonnet. Not the best effort, but good enough for a temporary look Loving the wide grille now since it adds to the wide and low front.
As with many Euro freaks, i am, too a big fan of Studie AG. It’s just that special touch the Japanese have when fiddling with cars. Especially their controversial approach towards the aesthetic part of it. I came across Garage36 from a lead that an old friend, Frank, provided. Louis, who runs Garage36 very recently made a trip to Japan, to visit the Tokyo Auto Salon.
I never got the chance to visit Studie during my last two trips to Tokyo. The Next time, i wil. But Thanks to Louis’s coverage, i now have an updated view of Studie AG. Very refreshing as compared to the older Studie Magazines i have owned. Continue reading ‘Studie AG visit by Louis of Garage36.’
Just a wild photochop work. The MINI is almost half way there with the Signal Green paintjob. It now needs more GT3 RS-esque features. Though Duell AG already have ready-made versions that resembles the look, unfortunately it’s for the R56 versions. The earlier R53 versions don’t posses the same look.
It’s still a photoshop work. So no promises. But it is the look that i desire most for the MINI.
Here are some updates on the MINI. The pre-facelift xenon headlights have made way for the newer projector versions. As expected, the MINI now looks 5 years younger. The projectors also provide significantly better , farther, beams plus the cut-off that only projectors can provide.
As you can clearly see, the E34 is going through an ugly phase. For the better. Which is a pretty shocking fact, since the 10 years i have had the car, it had always been the narrow grill. So about time a new look. Plus the wide grille ages the car pretty well, celebrating its 10th years of service. Plus the recent heart transplant and interior renovation deserves a more mature body.
What’s to be done: The AC Schnitzer badge will go, and the car will be sent for paint soon. Also, the bumpers needs to go. For many years the bumper had been damaged and repaired that it just isn’t practical repairing anymore. A single nudge will send cracks of previously damaged area. As for design, it’s either the same Schnitzer replicas or a custom job. Just not fixed on ideas yet.
Just not so long ago, I had the opportunity to meet Exotic Mods‘ latest pieces. Owner, Shedden had just finished both the Cayenne + TechArt and Scirocco + Caractere. It’s fresh from the paint oven. To think I was to receive the Scirocco from VW for a test drive and I had already managed to slightly molest a done up one. Claimed to be the first ever modified Scirocco in Malaysia.
I won’t bore anyone with the review of the Scirocco, but for those who loves the current VWs and Audis, this one’s for you. It’s as easy to operate as the DSG Golf V, just bigger. This one, almost completely revamped by Exotic Mods includes:
Just last Friday, the Malaysian chapter of Europrojektz, decided to do a small shoot. The Monsoon season didn’t stop us shooting in the drizzle. Fortunately, the pictures came out well and well worth the effort.
The shoot was done in a local shopping mall, Sunway Pyramid, top floor - car park. The parking lot was far from empty. It was peak Friday dinner hour but we managed anyway.
